LEAGUE FORM (MOST RECENT RESULT FIRST)…

LOSSIEMOUTH – L, GF 1, GA 3; LEAGUE POSITION – 15th

Lossie go into the game after a narrow loss at Fraserburgh last weekend. The Broch had to do it the hard way, however, having to come from behind to win after Dean Stewart had scored the opening goal just three minutes into the game. Sean Butcher came off the bench to rescue Fraserburgh with a second half hat-trick.

FORRES MECHANICS – W, GF 2, GA 1; LEAGUE POSITION – 6th

Forres were also forced to come from behind to win, having shipped the opening goal of the league season to Strathspey Thistle at Mosset Park inside of ninety seconds. Forres roared back to lead and ultimately claim all three points to get their season off to a successful start.

LAST TIME AT GRANT PARK…

30/12/2022 – Lossiemouth 0-0 Forres Mechanics

The two sides last met at the end of last year, playing out a goalless draw on a bitterly cold night at Grant Park to bring the curtain down on 2022. Neither side gave the impression of being overly happy at being asked to leave the house when the dregs of the Christmas sherry was needing drunk and the remaining contents of the selection boxes was sat melting near a roaring fire, and Niall Kennedy and Dean Stewart of Lossie and Connall Ewan of Forres all collected red cards in a bid to get to the showers/changing room/sherry and selection boxes first.

LAST WIN AGAINST FORRES MECHANICS AT GRANT PARK…

16/04/2011 – Lossiemouth 4-0 Forres Mechanics – ReportPhotos

Such was the hiding handed out here, it’s perhaps no surprise Lossie haven’t beaten Forres at home since, with this defeat so heavy that karma is still against us. Four goals from Ross Archibald, Steven Ellis, Nikki Smith and Scott Matheson did for a Forres team that had one shot on target all day, a Kyle Scott penalty saved by Darren McConnachie at 3-0 down.

TOP SCORERS…

Dean Stewart scored Lossie’s opener last weekend, setting him on his way to overhauling his total of four across all competitions last season. Forres were rescued last Saturday by debut goals from Dylan Lawrence and Callum Frame.

SINCE THE LAST GOAL IN THIS FIXTURE…

There’s been four Prime Ministers, a global pandemic and a coronation since Andrew Macrae of Forres scored the last goal of the night at twenty to ten on Wednesday, August 8th, 2018.
