(03/09/2022 – BREEDON HIGHLAND LEAGUE, GRANT PARK, LOSSIEMOUTH)
The month of September begins with the visit of Nairn County to The Bernagow, as Lossie look start picking up points once again.
LEAGUE FORM (MOST RECENT RESULT FIRST)…
LOSSIEMOUTH – LWWLL, GF 6, GA 19; LEAGUE POSITION – 13th
A slow start to the season has been forgotten following a hat-trick of wins, starting with a thumping win over Forres Mechanics in the North of Scotland Cup ahead of consecutive home league wins against Wick Academy and Strathspey Thistle. Since then, a pair of tricky games against teams from the top of the table have resulted in two defeats, with Brechin City working for the first half only at Glebe Park ahead of a strong second half showing from Brora Rangers in the North of Scotland Cup semi-final in midweek. The Coasters remain a hard ask on their own turf, losing just seven of seventeen league games at home last season.
NAIRN COUNTY – LDLLD, GF 5, GA 16; LEAGUE POSITION – 16th
The Wee County are third from bottom after failing to win any of their opening half dozen league games this season. An early exit from the North of Scotland Cup did nothing for the opening stages of the campaign, but Nairn remain unpredictable, taking a point from each of their meetings with Banks O’ Dee (A), Rothes (H), and Deveronvale (H). Nairn were good travellers last season, winning eight and drawing twice on the road on league duty, which more than made up for them only winning three games on their own turf all season.
LAST SEASON…
06/11/2021 – Lossiemouth 1-1 Nairn County – Report – Photos
The two met in the early days of winter last season, playing out a draw on a drizzly day on the Moray coast. A foul on Ryan Stuart by Sam Gordon saw Lossie awarded an early penalty which Ryan Sewell converted, ahead of an equaliser from Gordon himself. The second half was a quieter affair, with neither side able to force a winner ahead of the full time whistle.
