Formartine United v Lossiemouth – Match Preview

(26/02/2022 – BREEDON HIGHLAND LEAGUE, NORTH LODGE PARK, PITMEDDEN)

This weekend, Lossiemouth travel into darkest Aberdeenshire for the final game of February, a delicate affair against mid-table cracks Formartine United. The Shire lot are out of the title race but have a point to prove after stumbling to a draw with Lossie earlier in the season.

LEAGUE FORM (MOST RECENT RESULT FIRST)…

LOSSIEMOUTH – LLWWDL, GF 5, GA 11; LEAGUE POSITION – 15th

Lossie suffered a loss on their own turf for the first time since mid-December in their last outing, losing narrowly to league leaders Fraserburgh. On the road, Lossie are without a point since winning at Fort William in October and have found away form hard to come by, losing 4-0 at Rothes two weeks ago.

FORMARTINE UNITED – WWLLWD, GF 29, GA 7; LEAGUE POSITION – 6th

Their home loss against Inverurie Loco Works in January ended an unbeaten run on their own turf dating back to the end of August, but since then Formartine have won twice at North Lodge Park, squeezing past Wick Academy before thumping Strathspey Thistle earlier in February.

The two tangled at Grant Park in October and Lossie were moments away from landing all three points after goals from Brodie Allen and Ross Elliott had twice given Lossie the lead, only for Jonathan Smith to rescue a draw at the death. Click here for the match report, and here for the match photos.

LAST TIME AT NORTH LODGE PARK…

Ross Elliott made things interesting with a goal for Lossie early in the second half, before Jonathan Crawford finished things off late on with a fourth for the hosts.
