24/07/2021 – BREEDON HIGHLAND LEAGUE – VICTORIA PARK, BUCKIE

BUCKIE THISTLE ended the opening weekend at the top of the pile after besting LOSSIEMOUTH at Victoria Park in the latest installment of El Pelagico. The Jags survived an early penalty scare as Lossiemouth were awarded a spot-kick after fifteen minutes, only for Liam Archibald to see his strike saved by former Lossie goalkeeper Kevin Main. Buckie kicked on and two goals in three minutes saw them up the tunnel at half time in control of proceedings. Kevin Fraser and Scott Adams both found the net ahead of the break, and a pair of goals from Andrew MacAskill left Buckie sailing towards the points with half an hour still to play. Goal difference was keeping Buckie off the top of the table as the game wound down, only for Adams to bag his second of the afternoon to send the Jags into pole position at the end of day one.
