(13/04/2019 – BREEDON HIGHLAND LEAGUE, STATION PARK, NAIRN)

LOSSIEMOUTH came close to ending their long run without a league win at Station Park as NAIRN COUNTY squeezed home by a single goal on a roasting hot afternoon. Lossie were in no mood for a repeat of the five-goal loss suffered at Grant Park at the hands of the Wee County back in November and a much tighter performance from the Coasters saw Nairn kept very quiet.

Sunny Nairn more than lived up to her name this afternoon

HALF TIME – NAIRN COUNTY 0-0 LOSSIEMOUTH

The sunny afternoon was ruined when Nairn were handed a soft penalty after Kelvin Mackenzie made the slightest of contact with namesake Kenny inside the area. Gregg Main swept the ball home from the spot, sending Trevor Dear the wrong way.

The final whistle ended a challenging league season for Lossie, who began the campaign with a rake of heavy defeats before the youngsters in the squad found their feet, and this narrow loss is the fifth time this season Lossie have lost a game by a single goal. Lossie will finish second from bottom, nowhere near wooden spoon side Fort William but still some distance behind Clachnacuddin. Nairn still have one game left and can improve on their current position of twelfth with a win.
