(28/10/2023 – BREEDON HIGHLAND LEAGUE, SEAFIELD PARK, GRANTOWN)

The month of October comes to a conclusion with a trip to Grantown-upon-Spey for a Breedon Highland League tie against Strathspey Thistle.

LEAGUE FORM (MOST RECENT RESULT FIRST)…

LOSSIEMOUTH – WLLDDL, GF 5, GA 9; LEAGUE POSITION – 15th

Weather, cups, and weeks off put paid to most of October for most Breedon Highland League clubs, with most only managing a couple of games. Lossie have so far been in action just the once, but made the most of their time on the Grant Park surface to take all three points from their meeting with Wick Academy early in the month. The victory hoisted Lossie clear of their upcoming opponents, who have not had their problems to seek this season.

STRATHSPEY THISTLE – LLLLLL, GF 4, GA 27; LEAGUE POSITION – 18th

Strathspey Thistle go into the game desperately in need of something positive to get their season going. The Jags scored the opening goal of the league season just moments before Dean Stewart scored for Lossie at Fraserburgh, but Strathspey remain pointless after eight games and currently prop up the table, just below fellow strugglers Clach and Inverurie Loco Worls. The only highlight of their season so far was a Highland League Cup victory over Lossie at The Bernagow back in August, and since then the Grantown outfit have gone on to concede 33 goals in 7 games across all competitions.

LAST TIME AT SEAFIELD PARK…

14/01/2023 – Strathspey Thistle 1-3 Lossiemouth – Match report

Lossie made the journey south to Grantown earlier this year for a Highland League encounter, looking to follow up a Highland League Cup win at the same ground in October. An early penalty save by Strathspey goalkeeper Nathaniel Valente threatened to upset Lossie’s afternoon, but Liam Archibald had the Coasters in front as the second half warmed up. Late goals from Fraser Forbes and Ross Archibald ensured Lossie would head home with three valuable points.
